Keep Your Logins Safe

Protecting your financial information starts with secure logins and passwords. At Maple FCU, we encourage every member to take password security seriously. Sharing login credentials may seem convenient, but it can lead to unauthorized access, mistakes, or even fraud.

Each account holder needs to have their own, unique login. This will not only keep your financial details safe but also allows us to better track transactions accurately and ensure what is or is not fraud. For shared accounts (such as a joint checking or savings) separate logins also ensure accountability and better communication between account holders. It’s also essential to ensuring any disputes or questions about transactions can be resolved easily and swiftly.

5 Tips for Secure Logins

  1. Create strong, unique passwords: Use a mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters to make it difficult to guess, and do not use the same password for multiple logins.
  2. Update your passwords regularly: Periodically changing your password significantly reduces the risk of any account being compromised.
  3. Avoid using personal details: Steer clear of using birthdays,  anniversaries, graduation dates, family names, pet names, or any other easily found, personal information as materials for passwords.
  4. Enable two-factor authentication: Most services offer or require two-factor authentication (2FA). This adds an extra layer of security, requiring specific, randomly generated codes sent directly to your phone or email.
  5. Be cautious of phishing attempts: Never share your login credentials through email, text, or phone calls. Maple FCU will never ask for this information in an unsecured way.

Your finances are personal, and so is your online banking. By ensuring that each member of your household has their own login and keeps passwords private, you’re taking a crucial step in safeguarding your money and personal data.

If you have any concerns about security, reach out to us immediately. Together, we can keep your accounts and your money safe and sound.
